JACK-O-LANTERN PATTERN

MATERIALS
Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in green (tiny bit), and orange.
Felt: Small amounts of felt in Black.

HOW TO READ THIS PATTERN

#: Indicates the number of times to perform a certain stitch. If no number is shown, then just do it once.
Example: SC3 = SC in each of the next 3 stitches, Ch6 = Chain 6 times. SL = slip stitch once.
( ) x #: Stitches in ( ) are to be performed and repeated the number of times indicated by #.
Example: (SC1, SC inc) x 2 = you will do SC1, SC inc, SC 1, SC inc. SC dec x 4 = you will do the decrease 4 times.
[ ]: Indicates end result stitches for that round.
Around: Do the specified stitches all the way around the current round.
Example: (SC, SC inc) around = you will do SC and SC inc, repeat these 2 stitches to the end of round.

ABBREVIATIONS

Abbreviations are based on US crochet terminology
Ring: Make a magic ring, and do the specified stitches in the Ring.
Ch: Chain
SL: Slip Stitch
SC Single Crochet
SC inc: Single Crochet increase – SC twice into next stitch
SC dec: Single Crochet decrease – SC next 2 stitches together
HDC: Half Double Crochet
HDC inc: Half Double Crochet increase – HDC twice into next stitch
HDC dec: Half Double Crochet decrease
3HDC: HDC 3 times into the next stitch
DC: Double Crochet
DC inc: Double Crochet increase – DC twice into next stitch
FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet

INSTRUCTIONS:

Stem (Using Green)
Ring SC4
Rnds 1-3: SC around [4]
Rnd 4: (SC1, SC inc) around [6]
Change yarn to orange and continue around for the Pumpkin.

Starting from here, we will be ending each round with a SL, and Ch1. The first stitch for the next round will be in the same stitch as the SL and Ch1.

Pumpkin (Using Orange)
Rnd 1: SL1, Ch2 (this will count as 1 DC), DC in the same stitch, (DC inc) 5 times. SL, Ch1 [12]
Rnd 2: 3HDC, FPDC, Ch2, Skip 1 stitch, FPDC into next stitch, (3HDC, FPDC) twice, Ch2, Skip 1 stitch, FPDC into next stitch, 3HDC, FPDC, SL, Ch1. (The Ch2 is creating the hole for the ears)
Rnd 3: (HDC inc) 3 times, FPDC, HDC 6 times into the space created by Ch2, FPDC, (HDC inc) 3 times, FPDC, (HDC inc) 3 times, FPDC, HDC 6 times into the spaces created Ch 2, FPDC, (HDC inc) 3 times, FPDC, SL, Ch1 [42]
Rnds 4-9: (HDC 6, FPDC) around, SL, Ch1 [42]
Rnd 10: ((HDC dec) 3 times, FPDC) around, SL, Ch1 [24]
Rnd 11: SC 24

Break yarn and weave in ends.
Cut out Jack-o-Lantern face with black felt, glue on pumpkin.
